Yadda yadda yadda, you've heard it all before, I consume a vast amount of magazines. Recently, though the habit has been made worse by my further consumption of mens fashion magazine due to the boyf's similar love of glossies. In the latest winter/spring 07-8 Arena Homme Plus, with a alarmingly buffed up Marc Jacobs on the cover (not to be confused with the normal Arena magazine as this is completely fash-led...), Paolo Roversi shot an editorials to gives much food for thought for both guys and gals.
'Ensign', styled by Panos Yiapanis creates a look that combines military, college, Highland, gypsy boho and a touch of sporty all in one. If we think of unisex clothing as the urual non-descript, monochromatic twisted basics, then this demonstrates a truly unisex look as I could cut out a girl's face and stick it on there and save for maybe shoving on a pair of heels, these outfits are truly cross-gendered. Femmes who have fallen hard and fast for the Balenciaga AW07-8 collection would not hesitate to don this (alas.... Zara kind of killed the look for me when I saw mannequins styled to such a degree of catwalk-look-alike, I had to blink again and again and again...). It's actually more questionable whether guys would go for this global mish-mash style apart from nodding towards the look with a fringed/coined scarf. Perhaps it's more food for thought for guys than for girls who are already going full guns ahead with this look.
