What's the next best thing if one can't afford Maria Francesca Pepe's shiny, glossy tubing, not unlike enlarged shower roller hose (no really, scroll down, they are better than what I made them sound like...)? An oversized tee (got tees on the brain today alas... perhaps I'll perk up tomorrow, go crazy and break out with long sleeved tee suggestions...) printed with MFP's trademark coil jewellery. The simple slouch of the tee and the subtlety of the print for once makes me want to slick on lippie and I haven't wanted to do that in a longtime seeing as minus zero weather makes for dry chappy lips.
(Katarzyna Szczotarska sheer shirt (what happened to this wonderful London-based Polish designer?), H&M black lace top, vintage cow print skirt, vintage black sequin loose trousers, ASOS nude patent shoes)
(Vintage fringe jacket, vintage fringe skirt, cage chiffon dress by Angie Montreal, Bronx cut-out ankle boots)
Of course, nothing compares with the real shebang... the tube jewellery that set Pepe on an initial path of jeweller after she featured them in her graduate collection at Central Saint Martins. I just need to save up my pennies and slowly but surely I'll get there and be able to hang some tubes over the tee... good thing that they'll probably always feature as part of Pepe's jewellery line.
However, for S/S 09, she has gone back to her womenswear routes and introduced clothing that is perfect for integrating eith her jewellery and gives her jewellery a better platform to stand out from. I'm also chuffed that she's showing as part of Fashion East at London Fashion Week in February. We'll see if I turn up fan-girl style at the show with the tee...
