My obsession with black 'monkey fur' or goat fur is shared by a few other bloggers who aren't running for the hills at the mere mention of fur... Gnarlitude and The Coveted just to name two. The thing is it's not really down to the monkeys or goats that makes this fur appealing. I'm not particularly out to hunt either. It's the texture of those long black strands that resembles black hair that I envision sitting perfectly on dresses, on shoulders as capes, on ankle boots and bags as well.
Tim Ryan heard my 'monkey' calls and packed this beautiful cardigan and skirt set from his A/W 08 collection to me. I distinctly remember picturing this ensemble with my black crow on my head, which alas escaped me when I took the pics below.
It's basically the 'monkey fur' without any involvement from monkeys or goats and instead it's the softest wool in the world. Sure, the texture is a little frizzier than the shiny black locks of real 'monkey fur' (not sure why I keep on referring to monkeys when we are really just talking about goats...). However it does make for tremendous volume on the sleeves and hem of the cardi and skirt that gives me another opportunity to go swoosh swoosh...
I may not probably wear both at the same time for fear of imposing too much 'swoosh' on the world but all this faux monkey business (sorry...couldn't resist...) is ever so empowering when on...
The scarf which gave me much swooshing pleasure last time round is in full action at the moment on Fashion156...
Oh, and he's one of the few designers I talk up that is sans website so please do email Tim if you're after some of his beautiful knitwear... or erm...swooshing...
