I'll admit it, I've been a bit of a lazy bum in terms of high street shopping. When I say my wardrobe is composed of 'high street, vintage, designer, second-hand/charity shop and random in-between pieces/DIY', what high street actually refers to is a few pieces from Topshop and COS. Reason being of course is that due to lack of time to shop, I'd much rather devote shopping time to my happy places (the shopping map to the left contains a lot of those happy places....I'm not of course referring to the special place in my head...).
Still, I'm going to expand that high street horizon a little bit because frankly most of their online shops are fairly up to scratch now so I can just sit on my arse and buy things and in all honesty, I think the other stores have been trying to up their game for a while now and their efforts should be recognised.
New Look - Time and time again I attempt New Look with much savoury gusto, rolling up my sleeves, venturing up those neon yellow plastic steps in search of something spesh but always come out with nothing. Having discovered New Look Limited Edition though which is a fairly new thing, I feel I can be converted and seeing these pieces from the S/S 09 collection confirms that... pastels that aren't sickening, that nice silk again that I experienced last time round and animal print that I'm actually lusting for... and though it's 'Limited Edition', the prices are the same as normal Topshop pieces...
ASOS - These aren't QUITE the floral jeans I'm in desperate need for (well actually more specifically, I'm after floral tailoring...) but ASOS has transferred Cath Kidson-type florals well onto the jeans and dress. You might be spying the Phillip Lim/Christian Louboutin-esque ruffled shoes...sadly the heel is not high enough for me so I'm gunning for the square toe clumpy boots instead.
River Island - River Island will always hold a special place in my heart because it was so exciting when it opened on North Finchley high street when I was a teen though I never actually bought anything. Not entirely sure why it's still 'special'. To this day, I've still never bought anything but take these images apart and I'm liking the cropped leopard print top (the relationship between me and animal print is undergoing a sharp turn...) and I'm also spying some laser cut lace peeking from a dress that I will try and hunt down (god knows when any of these things ACTUALLY drop into stores...).
Oasis - Probably my favourite S/S 09 lookbook just because everything looks so fresh and precise. They've done a superb job on prints and I think have somehow gone for a much more cleancut look. Both of these are promptly on my high street watch...
