It was a given that I was going to love the Barbara i Gongini show at Copenhagen Fashion Week and having met her backstage at her show, to find this ethereal flame-haired woman whose half Faroese, half Danish heritage positively sings through her collections, I'm even more convinced I need some Gongini action in my wardrobe..
For this season, she collaborated with photographer Niclas Jessen to produce to lookbook images, shot at the Royal Theatre's warehouse, a series which is entitled with various wordplays...
My images don't do the show justice but as with previous collections, Gongini has gone all out with the tulle and injected the one bit of colour with a dramatic fluroescent pink and yellow concoction. As I suspected, the tulle isn't just randomly knotted to make these voluminous creations but is derived from a Faroese tradition of knitting. Not sure how one casts tulle onto needles but I'll leave it that to Gongini as I'm sure the tulle will be a reccuring motif....
