To everyone who has been asking me how is New York fashion week going, I seem to be giving a uniform stock answer that after a few repetitions does ring true true true in my head. The answer is that everyone is on the whole, a lot nicer, enthusiastic and generally super approachable. I've been thrusted into an atmosphere where you could be talking to the most random people at the most peculiar times... discussing the Marc Jacobs show with Kate Lanphear at the Tribeca Grand, Erin Wasson telling me my outfit is cute in the backstairs of a penthouse... etc etc etc. What with my natural awkwardness, this doesn't necessarily bode well for great social interaction but at least communication is being made and maybe, just maybe I'm not the complete dorky idiot that I am in my head. In the past week, I think I've had more people come up to me to say "Hi!" than I get in London in a whole year. I put it down to Londoners' natural reserve which I too possess. Still, I thank those that have said "Hey!" and it is still quite surprising that I find New Yorkers relating to my talk of being "chuffed" over Nicholas Kirkwood shoes, my need for a trip to the local chippie every week and general London shop talk.
Yesterday was a bit of a wash-out what with the rain/snow...I should have really brightened it up a bit to cheer things up but felt like busting out with the grey... the star of the show is really the vintage Valentino polka dot trousers which I borrowed from Fanny and the Cave along with the Prada boots. Also had my Michelle Jank around my neck. I'm mourning the loss of my grey hat which I stupidly left in a cab...

-Olivia Morris for Temperley's shoes are pretty swell.... molten golden lava trickles over the back and a good chunky heel...
-I also loved their campaign imagery for this season. They opted out of showing on the catwalk in favour of a virtual runway (how many of those will pop up next season I wonder...).
-Sadly I missed the Telfar show on Friday but went to this new store called Eva on Bowery and saw his new collection in the windows. Muppet blue fur in a fitted cut is perfect for my ongoing obsession with all things tactile and snuggly...
-Why do I feel awkward/dorky 99% of the time? Oh right, because there are FI-ERCE (sorry couldn't resist that one...) girls walking around in A/W 08 YSL dresses and Tribute ankle boots and just looking amazing...I don't usuallly snap outfits but I literally had to with this one...
Savant's Feng Feng Yeh has come up with another genius tactile texture....chunky, oversized crushed velvet cable knit....
-Blue and tactile continues and I will do a separate post about the Proenza boys because *pssst* I think they might have made my week second to Rodarte...
-Erin Wasson x RVCA presentation made me think again about eating that Popeyes chicken... they're launching in London in Selfridges next week. May start feeling bad about myself about not having the ability to pull off exposed stockings and suspenders later on...
- Shock shock horror horror. The immaculately, cutely, amazingly dressed Julia Frakes of Bunny Bisous actually knows my blog. WHAT? Even with my dodgy camera, her picture still came out Teen Vogue-worthy... that would be down to the multi-faceted, well thought-out outfit. I on the other hand with my polka dot clown pants was shirking away in a corner...
