You didn't think that these would escape being on this blog did you? Well actually I didn't really have any intentions of posting these illustrations considering the amount of blogosphere coverage they've gotten. What they fail to mention though is whilst the concept of the nude designers on tees belongs to Henry Holland, all the illustrations are actually by Sophie Stephens, a UCA Epsom fashion illustration grad that was spotted early on by Holland and featured a flower print designed by Stephens in his S/S 09 collection and then collaborated again with Holland on these tees. It's no secret that Holland has a super duper team behind him and as with talents like Atalanta Weller and Katie Hillier, he sure knows how to pick em'.
All of these will be available as tees at Dover Street Market (Anna Piaggi and Agyness Deyn are already available from his site to buy...) bar the one of Alexa Chung which was used as a special Browns Focus goodie bag tee... it's actually the one that makes me chuckle the most. It's down to the pumkin really. As vegetables go, pumpkins are quite hilarious aren't they...?
From Stephens' portfolio her 'Style makes me Sick' final year project was particularly provoking as it was a guerilla art campaign that involved her flyering a Topshop changing room everyday with an illustration saying "No More Heroes", challenging what we think is fashionable and urging us to stop putting so-called style 'icons' up on a pedestal. For someone like me who always gets stumped when asked that naff question about fashion icons/heroes, this is especially nice to know that I'm not the only one baffled by the idea of a style icon....
Sophie was also kind enough to do a Susie Bubble portrait, albeit not involving any flowers over muffs (let's just put that mental image aside and discard it shall we), but of the Emilio de la Morena outfit I wore for the Gucci bash last year...
I'm now thinking whether I could pull off mustard and neon together. Nonetheless I still want neon yellow socks to go with the blue Pierre Cardin platform shoes which I've won on eBay today and that are eerily similar to the ones below...
