Other than Brittique, there aren't that many online sources of Tata Naka so I was delighted to find Amelie Boutique (one of the few estores where owning one of everything in their stock cupboard would be no bad thing…) has started stocking Tata Naka's S/S 09 collection.  One piece that made me chuckle/intrigued was this glove dress featuring a vintage glove print as well as an actual pair of vintage gloves acting as straps with every dress being different depending on what gloves are being used.

A comedy value dress that would inspire all kind of glove/hand jokes – given where the fingers are ..ermm… pointing.  Jokes aside, I've been on a bit of a vintage glove rampage anyhow and this dress is the icing on my hot cross bun trail that has led me to yummy images like these by Freshly Found on Flickr…

I don’t even mind the gimmick/kitsch factor – that dress is simply adorable! A perfect way to start spring.

  7. Jennine says:

i had a similar idea, except my gloves are siting in a drawer unattached to a dress….

I’m a big fan of gloves & in particular vintage pairs.
I’ve seen gloves being used by DIYers/designers to great effect before but I really love the fact that this is a printed fabric rather than an appliqu√©. Check out the ‘Compai’ chicks collection for some really cool glove trimmed pieces:

  9. OH I loooove those glove placemats- that is pure genius. Thanks for sharing these links, SB!

  10. Dolce and Gabbana used gloves like that in their fall 2009 show

  11. These are wild!
There’s a fashion show in the original movie “The Women” and I was always mildly creeped out by this one dress that featured a wax hand holding a flower at the clasp…this sort of reminds me of that. Not sure I can handle of these gloves!

this reminds me of a pic on the sartorialist a year or two back where a woman was wearing a black wool coat with two gloves across the torso. really cool, with an edge that’s pretty open-ended.
the girl who’d wear this dress to a party, is the girl i’d want to be friends with!

talking about Brittique, what happened to your guest buyer position for them? you still doing it? How did you selections do?

  17. susie_bubble says:

Adrian, I never found out the finer details of the sales…. it’s not my business to ask really…! I was just making selections on Nicole’s behalf whilst she was pregnant…. doubt buying is my bag at all…

  18. fauxfauxreal says:

the model looks kind of like an asian lily cole…

  19. Laura says:

This is so Martin Margiela. I’ve always wanted to do a DIY, but unfortunately, I really don’t have access to vintage gloves. One day, yes.
