So the resort posts have been flying around and once again I choose
not to partake due to indifference or honestly, a lack of interest.
It's interesting though that designers are launching first resort
collection in a time when supposedly there isn't the demand for a quasi
season of clothes squished in between the two main ones. Still, the
firsts have got to me. Christopher Kane of course is one... 58 blog
posts raving about that collection and counting last time I looked at
my Bloglines... nothing left to say really...
Peter Jensen is another first resort outing and I got to see it in action at the lovely House of St. Barnabus in Soho on Tuesday. The fact that Jensen has attempted to present his first resort collection in a remotely interesting way as opposed to the expected white background has already sold it to me. I love that he has once again collaborated with illustrator Charlotte Mann who created the amazing set for his S/S 07 show that still graces the Catwalking.com homepage that I use on a daily basis. The collection was based on that famous Diane Arbus' shot of the triplets in New Jersey and so the set is also based on that image...
Spot that image...
The setting was perfect for projecting the lookbook images onto the wall...Peter Jensen himself looked particularly sharp nestled in Charlotte's set...
The whole collection was meant to be a place where Jensen's bunny motif could have a place to live... so it pops up quite a bit in amongst the casual/flirty silhouettes that Jensen has perfected. Here's the bunny in acrylic sunglasses made with Tatty Devine. Alas, they're more for styling than actual practical wear but it bodes well for any sunnies line that Jensen embarks on...
The bunny is also on these ballet flats that have a most pleasing bow as adornment...
Pastel sequins...
More bunny print as well as an ant print that Jensen has revived from his archives...
Most importantly is that endearingly, Jensen has taken the word Resort quite literally and adhered to the idea that we are summering somewhere nice in that pre-spring period and has introduced swimwear....I've found a possible swimsuit contender with this grey one-piece with the bunny ears acting as the halter neck tie... I'm not going anywhere nice that period of time but I might be persuaded to take a cold dip on a grey beach (incidentally, my favourite kind of beach...).
