I did make it my mission to meet the man that devoted a project/collection to my beloved grey jersey sweater by making it overly oversized, put two people in it and taking it around the world to get as many different kind of couples photographed in it as possible. WHO can't endear to that, I ask you. So this morning I trekked up to Antoine Peters' lovely studio where I was tempted to beg him to pull out the sweater just so I could cosy up in it for a bit. Following his sweater project of course, he has since been showing at Amsterdam Fashion Week regularly. Still on the sweater tract, his follow-up collection "I will never wear a sweater" contains the more wearable luxe version of the sweater which I was also tempted to badger him for...
No, sadly I did the whole English polite thing and interviewed him, quizzing him on the Amsterdam fashion scene and his latest collection "Turn Your Frown Upside Down". It pretty much does what it says on the tin. The frown turned upside down was used in cut-outs, shapes of the draping, prints and also Antoine's own logo. In particular I loved themash-up dress of Grace Kelly and Scarlett Johansson that can be worn in two ways depending on whether you prefer Grace or Scarlett on top (didn't mean for that to sound as sexual as it reads...). What struck me about Antoine's clothes were that going past the gimmick, the loud prints and the literal statements that often come across in the catwalk images is that up close his cutting is actually quite precise and was especially apparent with this collection when using the smile-shape to make things drape in a certain way,

Even a slightly grumpy me, who was unsettled by dodgy baked beans at the hotel breakfast had to smile at Antoine and his huge scarf that actually drapes quite cleverly due to the smile-shape.
When confronted with a bag of peach sparkly foam clown's noses, I guess there's nothing to do but join the smiling brigade. So after the whole polite interview shebang, it was only fair that I get in on the nose action.
A lot comfier than the plastic Red Nose Day noses it has to be said...
