If Elsien Gringhuis is anything to go by of Lichting's standard, then I'm going to be wow-ed out and overly gushy tomorrow when I come back laden with photos and probably blogging late into the night (it's 1am here and this collection and Chicago, the film on TV are keeping me up).  Elsien opened official Amsterdam Fashion Week opening show with her collection of rigid fembots.  Mind you, they're perfect rigid fembots.  It's all technical cutting, straight lines, fabrics that stand stiff from the body and intentionally so.  There are touches of Ghesquiere's car body techniques, that he has been applying to recent Balenciaga collections but coming from a gal, there is a soft touch in Elsien's collection, demonstrated by the pairing of a structured jacket and a shirt dress underneath.  She's also scarily converted me into loving a white coat.  One that is cut like a dream, ice white and worn with nothing underneath it at that.  Mother of the bride, this is not…

**EDIT** Wow…. this was supposed to  be a DRAFT post…not meant for publishing until the morning UK time…. DOH!  Typepad is fuzzy…the title "So Rigid its Perfect" was of course just a working one, typed out at around 1am… and has now been changed… nothing alas is perfect…

    “so rigid it’s perfect”???
disagree. do not like. I get the art of fashion, esp. with fashion shows, and sometimes it is the over-the-top stuff that I love the most– but seeing a model with arms strapped to sides walking down the runway does nothing for me..
plus this does not seem that fresh.
    love the blog tho!

This is not original at all, this is Balenciaga by Ghesquiere!
Why we need a wannabe, if tehre is already a great Ghesquiere!
    Please make something original.
