>> The title isn't as creepy as it sounds. Actually it's quite a non-sensical one at the moment seeing as my closet is basically MDF and screws in amongst a pile of clothing on the floor. A few months ago, this wasn't the case and I did actually have a closet that was presentable enough to let the Elle UK magazine team in to rummage through, photograph with the help of props styling and *ahem* nonchalently placed hangers.
Now it's all out in new Elle's September issue and Rebecca Lowthorpe, fashion features director at Elle was able to cobble a three page article despite the fact my wardrobe or life isn't a smidge extensive as some of the people they have featured in the past (Amanda Harlech, Katie Hillier etc). Without meaning to sound trite, Closet Confidential just happens to be my favourite bit in Elle and I was wary to begin with, thinking that my pad and my wardrobe wouldn't be up to scratch... me thinks Roksanda Ilincic, who was in the same feature a while back intimidated me slightly, with her glossy black surfaces, YSL-esque colours and err beautiful Roksanda herself. I have pleather sofa, white washed walls and Ikea shelves.
Still, David Yeo the photographer managed to do a great job of bringing out the best of my rented digs and the shoes don't look half bad either despite the fact I keep everything in a battered state of disarray. Thanks to the Elle team for a) making the shoot a relaxing one and b) bringing over a truly scrumptious meringue pie even though I'm normally a meringue hater...
(Some clothing credits weren't mentioned but thanks to Modernist, Rupert Sanderson, Emilio de la Morena, Cooperative Designs and I Heart Norwegian Wood for augmenting the piece in their own mysterious ways...)
**EDIT** Well spotted reader... they did get my flat location slightly wrong.... I'm actually based in North London, not East.... as much as that confuzzles people in the office, the majority living in and around Hackney...
