I feel like I've sort of feel like this is somewhat of a late statement given that the show was eons ago and I should have reacted sooner than that... but here goes anyway... I actually genuinely liked House of Holland's S/S 10 collection. Henry Holland sort of made it slightly impossible for me not to like it as he made the paint swatch his chosen motif of the season and applied it through pretty thoroughly. I used to specifically go to B&Q when I was about 12 and take different paint swatches and then line them up in an album, kind of like what you do with stickers but I did it with paint swatches. I'd organise it by shade, matt, glossy, pale to dark. This ridiculous book served no purpose other than to instill the notion that everything would be ok in life just as long as my paint shades were well kept. I guess the show should have been a cringey reminder but I'm not exactly ashamed about my tedious teen years.
Though the garments are a little out of my reach, I'm glad to see Henry's stuck to his route of accessibility and instead of £30 slogan tees, this season, it's £10 tights in a coffee cup. I picked these up in Selfridges this morning but you can pre-order them on My Tights if you're not in London. The lilac and blue ones are mine and the black ones are for the sis.... I'm hoping I can relive my paint swatch collecting days with the tights and whatever goes on top of them.
