>> It's been about three weeks since my inbox has been bombarded with "Are you putting together GIFTING recommendations on your blog? Please consider including our scratchy jumpers//new age hippie jewellery//hair vitamins//travel manicure kits in your guide...". Of course what they don't know is there's nothing more pet peeving to me than a generic gift guide that every weekly, magazine and newspaper tries to put together, typecasting people into categories and assigning 'appropriate gifts to them e.g. for the teenage boy - a Hollyoaks calendar...
Still, I'm not going to be ignorant of the fact that Crimbo is just around the corner and yes, gifts will be on people's minds and so perhaps there may be a few more posts leading to possible 'gifting options' that is available on the interweb and since there's still well over a month, shipping contingencies can be put in place.
Stolen Thunder seems an obvious choice and has gotten a bit of British press of late. However, it was only until I physically smelt their laser cut wooden jewellery that I knew it needed a thumbs up. As soon as it fell out of the envelope a combination of burning bonfires and hickory wood chips came wafting out from the birdcage necklace which actually made me immediatley put it on so that I could smell it on the tube everytime I felt like it (I used to do this with Stella's Amber solid compact perfume to stop me from being sick on the tube...).
Their small but well-rounded selection attempts to do for wood what Tatty Devine did for coloured acrylic and at the moment it's all suitably Christmas-y... bambi, owls, Russian dolls etc... I'm quite taken by the rings too which include yet another take on the ever-ubiquitous double ring...

Wow! This is soooo beautiful!

The puzzle pieces are really cute, they remind me of friendship necklaces my friends and I used to have in elementary school. Of course the puzzle pieces aren't cheesy like a heart broken in two with the word "best" on one half and "friends" on the other.

Really cute and unique. I love the Bambi style one, and the girl with the balloons reminds me of that Banksy print with the red balloon.

I think its a bit Tatty Devine rip off - it's things that have all been done before, I'd rather see something laser cut that was a bit more original. Lasercut jewellery is really nice and seems to be everyywhhere but come on people lets see something that isn't a a version of Tatty devine, or your not going to stand out!

Sonambula: I'm not familiar with Princess Tina.... but just had a google search and found some enamel brooches? The characters are slightly similar but other than that, the techniques aren't the same...
Sandy: I did make the Tatty Devine comparison. What I was trying to say was though that Stolen Thunder work with wood....where Tatty Devine use acrylic.... it is hard with lasercut jewellery of this kind to deviate too far and als not everything I post is going to be 100% original (and I never said it was either...)... just pointing out another option...

Thanks for posting this. These certainly aren't generic gifts and I can think of one special person in my life who would love the Bambi.
