I didn't think I'd be updating purchases throughout my holiday but seeing as I haven't had the time to sit down, properly research and write anything informative I guess this will have to suffice until I get back.
I kind of feel like I'm writing a lot of drivel when it comes to a post about the store Joyce in Hong Kong. Me talking about Joyce in Hong Kong is kind of like the equivalent of talking about Dover Street Market in London or colette in Paris. It's obvious, established and pretty much textbook (or tourbook in this case…). Curiously though, I had only ever been to the one in Central probably because whenever I had been in Hong Kong previously, I felt a little bit like a goof walking into sheeny shiny boutiques with my battered up canvas tote bag. So on my first trip to the branch in Admiralty Pacific Place, I was there to first and foremost take some images of Anthony Vaccarello's collection which is currently exhibiting there (they will be stocking his collection come January!)… as he wasn't able to see it himself…
…secondly, I also managed to peer at some of the other exhibits like the On Aura Vout Tu installation which is an amalgamation of animal pop and haute couture frocks as best as I can see…
…thirdly, I got to really rifle through their stock which is FAR more all-encompasing than I had imagined… a mix of European, American and Japanese… with showpieces and wearables in all collections, I was quietly impressed with the selection. Oddly enough I found pieces from British labels like Richard Nicoll, House of Holland and Mary Katrantzou that I hadn't seen in shops yet in London. Just a few pickings from the tempting mix included Camilla Skovgaard, Ohne Titel and Miharayasuhiro.
Dress33. The rose flower print reminds me of the cover of this old vinyl photo album that had all my baby pics in it (I used to leaf through my baby pics and wonder why the heck why I was so cute as a baby but somehow turned out like such a turd …teen angst at its best, eh). Its cropped shape is making it ripe for all that predictable jazz I love… layering, mixed prints, shiny fabrics etc… so even with my limited travel wardrobe I've found a way of ripping right into my new purchase straight away.
Hi Susie!
Welcome back to Hong Kong! (I live + work here, doing PR for several fashion and lifestyle brands)
Anyways, any chance you’ll still be around in Jan/March 2010? we have a shoe brand from London that’ll be opening up its first international store in HK and we’d like to invite you to the stylist preview and the opening as well =) if you’re here.
Please email me and let me know.
Thanks =) Rina

I love bright bold colors for winter. Last week I also bought a dress with a floral print, little psychedelic,in fluo colors, similar to the prints of Erdem, but much less expensive and I made a post of it … I really like the madness with which you create your look, you’re really an artist!
