If Paris is the grand-daddy of fashion weeks then in that respect, the shows do sometimes forces me to reassess my maturity in my own style aesthetic (or lack of maturity...). What with everyone clamouring for reductive, minimal yet beautiful things (spreaking of which, read about my Celine woes on Twitter...), I can't help but be seduced. Still, even when faced with stunner pieces like this coated cable knit cape from the Vionnet A/W 10-11 collection, I'm thinking a ton of acrylic jewellery of the Michelle Jank ilk and some mixed floral prints going on underneath could be good. I just can't hold back and wear the I'm using Vionnet as one of many examples that no doubt, I'll try and catch up yonks after fashion week because of the dead eyes.
I also loved this velvet ruched criss-cross fronted dress that in the spirit of the young uns' meets grown-ups go over a plethora of too-bright bodies...
Other Vionnet bits...I loved the graffiti effect of this painted lace...
Yes, fur fur fur is everywhere and ethics aside, I'm more interested in techniques being pushed within the use of the material as opposed to walloping a large dose of it in a fluffy giant yeti coat. Vionnet's CD Rodolfo Paglialunga has placed it in little swatches on a sheer silk chiffon base which of course means more complicated layering options on my part...
Oh and a whole post could be dedicated just to the interior of Jean Cocteau's apartment where the presentation was held.... Highly.Desirable.Wallpaper.Alert
