Geez...I know Susie is at home all day now with too much time to think but does she really want to venture into... "solution dressing" aka the sort of instructional styling garbage that TV lurves to feed us as their way of putting 'fashion' on their entertainment agenda?
I know the post title is a bit wack. By NO means am I offering any kind of solution. If I even began to presume that my pee brain could offer any sort of sartorial solution, then I'd ask the other half to promptly give me a good shake and say "Silly LauLau - NO!" (he's taken to calling me by my last name but repeated twice... I have no idea why).
All I have happed upon is my own little spring solution, galvanised by the arrival of this beaut of a kimono winged over from the lovely Cherie at Shrimpton Couture. The site itself isn't overflowing with kimono selections apart from the beautifully reconfigured ones courtesy of the collaboration with The Glamourai so I'm even more grateful that Cherie took the time to attempt to answer my kimono woes I was expressing a few months back.
It's certainly a brighter kimono than the one I had imagined in my head of owning but then looking at my current intake of colour, it suddenly seemed all the more natural that a purple kimono with a crane print (even faintly reminiscent things like this print is reminding me of Miu Miu S/S10... in particular a pair of shoes which I'm on a desperate hunt for...) should sit comfortably alongside say.... two Louise Gray dresses. I'm not even taking into shade clashing into consideration here. To me it just makes sense to have several shades of pink running alongside the rich purple and other brights too...
Ah yes, the solution... hah... even a post title couldn't keep me on track. An indication of my own aversion to 'solution dressing' perhaps. A mannish blazer/jacket underneath the kimono seems to be doing the trick to keep me suitably warm enough for this spring weather (16 degrees in London today...WOO...!) as well as reassuring myself that I'm not going out looking like I'm auditioning for a poor stage version of Memoirs of a Geisha. I gave it a road test this morning when I accidentally turned for a breakfast that was in fact tomorrow, not today and even with the bun hair, I'm hoping that I didn't have themed restaurant waitress written all over me.
(Louise Gray Dress, Lanvin blazer, purple sheer tights, Kurt Geiger flats)
(Krystof Stroznya jacket, Louise Gray dress, Bebaroque tights, Nicholas Kirkwood shoes)
Let's end this with a completely NON-solution item shall we? These shoes from the Nicholas Kirkwood S/S 10 collection are not about solution. Just pure impulsive desire. I like making different pitches of squealing noises whenever I put them on. If someone recorded them and mixed them into a track, I'd have a hit on my hands.
