I have a few Aussie jewellery bits and bobs to go up but I had to flag up Gala Curios. A bow is not some trifling fancy. A whispy bit of ribbondry wafting around. At least, that's the view of the bow that Jasmin of Gala Curious takes. I'm becoming ever more predictable with my tastets owed to the racked up four years of blogging... a PR pointed out that I would love Jasmine's stuff and how right he was. Sometimes I find it a little embarrassing how transparent my tastes have become.
You may know Jasmine Noir as the girl who made the fantastic cut-out lace jewellery for Marnie Skillings last year. She has since changed her name to Gala Curios because of a certain Bvlgari fragrance and has launched her debut collection of lacquered bows that curl around in rock-hard rigidity on rings, necklaces and yes, a head bow. A session of ring-trying ensued at the showroom. I believe that her current collection delved into metallics; copper, rose-gold, gold, silver...
... and then in her continuing collection, she introduces more colour so that pastel and metallic coloured lacquers cover the bows...
I also love her use of porcelain to emulate rope knots and twists...
She has also given lace hard edge by dipping them in metallic and pastel lacquer and I especially love how the frill of lace has been frozen into position in the necklaces.
