>> It's a fashion exhibition chock-fest this year as reported by Fashionista and I think the first one that i'll be properly reviewing will be the Louis Vuitton - Marc Jacobs exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris. I was under the impression that it was purely a retrospective of Jacobs work for Louis Vuitton from the last ten years. This meticulously arranged image of a doll, trousseau and its Louis Vuitton trunk from 1865 suggests otherwise.
The curator Pamela Goblin has chosen to present Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs as two innovators/creators and shapers of contemporary fashion, drawing parallels between the two rather than presenting Jacobs' work solely. Louis Vuitton artefacts from the 19th century will go hand in hand with Jacobs' jolty tenure at the house and it will be interesting how they play off one another. In any case it should be visual feast considering it's designed by Sam Gainsbury and Joseph Bennett (the same duo who created Alexander McQueen's exhibition at the Met) over two floors with Katie Grand on hand as creative consultant. Bring on the forty plus, bandwidth defying picture posts for 2012...
