As I was bumpily landing into Heathrow yesterday, Topshop and Meadham Kirchhoff were reliving their S/S 12 show in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee at the Oxford Circus branch, and I was lucky enough to get Steve to go down there on my behalf as Style Bubble correspondent, despite the fact that he has a manly aversion to glitter, pastels and screaming girls. There was definitely plenty of those three things at the event, where Meadham Kirchhoff's Courtney Loves kicked off the spectacular with elongated satin pastel gowns and took on more of a Little Britain "I'm a Lady!" appearance. They proceeded to dance down the escalators, throwing some defiantly regal shapes to a soundtrack of Rule Britannia and Spice Girls' Wannabe. The duo then unveiled yet another elaborate tiered cake, a blistering reminder of that magical S/S 12 show moment, and this time, glittering show girls and a Meadham Kirchhoff-style Britannia, decked in garlands of roses, New Romantics-esque make-up and the best trident ever. The MK fun doesn't stop at this event, which can be seen on video here, as candy floss and rainbow popcorn will be handed out in-store by Meadham Kirchhoff usherettes and if you spend over £60, you'll get yourself an MK paper crown this weekend. Topshop are also selling some glitter heart tees (£60) and tinsel tees (£100) as part of this Jubilee MK fest. I wasn't there in person but I'll make up for it in spirit when I pick up a tinsel tee to match the tinsel skirt from MK's last collaboration with Topshop and I'll sashay down the street with Wannabe in my head and rainbow millions down my throat.
