>> I loves me a bit of novelty fashion printed paraphernalia and Phillip Lim's foray into comic books is definitely a keeper (I'll even keep it in its plastic wrapper for potential future collectability). If Phillip Lim's A/W 12-3 sparsely cool collection didn't obviously read "superhero" or "comic books" in its aesthetic, he has turned out a very literal comic book Kill the Night, scripted by John Ostrander and illustrated by Jan Duursema. In true predictable comic book fashion, there are a lot of onomatopoeic sound effects, a doomed love interest and impossibly long-legged heroines drawn to tower over you, except with a Pashli bag popping up every now and again. You can sign up to receive a copy if Phillip Lim-clad leggy girls dropping lines like "Call me crazy, but I think I'm really falling for him." are your thing.
Reading Kill the Night in my hotel bathtub with some new Nancy shoes on... as you do...
Lim's pre-occupation with comic books doesn't end with Kill the Night as his pre-fall collection features a few Lichtenstein-esque motifs that grace knitwear and accessories. Who isn't up for a bit of bang and a bit of kapow splashed across the chest?
