>> A post declaring "It's my Birthday!" that automatically invites people to lavish you with birthday wishes is a bit boring. Especially as I've turned 29, an unremarkable age that basically is a premature countdown towards to the big 3-0, something that I will celebrate with lashings of enthusiasm next year. Therefore, this was supposed to be a write-off year. A year where time has passed but we don't need to hoot on about it. However, the post office didn't get that memo and yielded packages that kind of forced me to get into the birthday mode. They weren't birthday gifts as such but somehow arrived together to form a piece of birthday armour. It comprises of a solid square waffle colour-blocked jumper from Italian up and comer CO|TE and a beautiful Sorcha O'Raghallaigh neon tulle top embroidered with glass beads that look like iridescent sea anemone. They come with "Thanks for your support" messages and are of course always welcome, especially when they collectively arrive to form a powerful combination that can withstand the cold, miserly un-birthday spirits and quiet introspection.
On Twitter and on Facebook, I asked if should put a time cap on Style Bubble, a blog that I began in my early twenties and now that I'm nearing the end of that decade, would it be timely to put a stop to Style Bubble when I do hit 30. It's a loaded question that needs careful thought over the coming months as I undergo my next major milestones which is buying my first house (mortgage app accepted - HURRAH) and making my first official nest, and so it feels appropriate to wonder what I can do next. The thinking is that, if i can be bothered to get my shit together and get a house, surely there's more in me than just penning a blog and having a fabu lifestyle, that I've never quite felt like I've paid my dues enough to deserve. The "bigger picture" approach of the label Maiyet, which I wrote about today is enough to make you cogitate about your all-round contribution. None of the "Oh no, Style Bubble is finishing!" comments, please. I'm not there yet. But thinking about next steps and new challenges is never going to be a bad thing. Maybe you're all nodding in agreement with me.
